Breakdowns, bad luck and mishaps: Luxury villa is on fire, the reason is curious

Connecticut (USA) - Thanksgiving was celebrated in the USA last Thursday. For one family, the traditional harvest festival ended in disaster.

Firefighters tried to extinguish the fire, but in the end had to admit defeat to the flames.

At around 3.45 p.m., the alarm bells rang at the Weston Fire Department in the US state of Connecticut. The firefighters received a report of a garage fire.

The report was confirmed at the scene. However, the fire had long since spread to the adjacent residential building. According to CT Insider, this was not just any house, but a luxury villa costing the equivalent of around three million euros!

The fire department reported that they immediately "aggressively fought" the flames. However, it soon turned out that all efforts were in vain: the villa collapsed under the weight of the fire despite the firefighting efforts.

But why did the luxury property actually catch fire?

Dark clouds of smoke billowed over the burning house.

Major fire was started by a turkey according to initial findings

According to initial investigations, the homeowner had wanted to roast the usual Thanksgiving turkey in his garage. The building must have caught fire in the process. For around 25 people, the beloved Thanksgiving feast had thus vanished into thin air.

But the overcooked turkey was not the only mishap that day. Weston's fire department confessed that a vehicle had run over the water hose during the extinguishing work. As a result, no water came out of the fire hoses for several minutes.

Nobody was injured, by the way, but the luxury villa is now uninhabitable.
