Arms dealer arrested: He supplied the whole of Europe, even contract killers!
Poland - Thanks to cooperation between security authorities from Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland and Sweden, an illegal arms dealer has been arrested. He had been selling firearms to criminals throughout Europe.
The Pole was caught transporting weapons parts he had just bought in Austria to Poland, as Europol reported.
During a subsequent search of his home and a nearby forest, investigators found countless illegal weapons, including pistols, rifles and revolvers.
Even automatic weapons and 20,000 pieces of ammunition were seized. Most of the items found were buried in barrels in the ground.
The suspect had previously worked as a licensed arms dealer and exploited his knowledge of the gun laws in Europe.
Thanks to a loophole in Austrian legislation, he managed to get the weapon parts to Poland and process them there into weapons ready to fire.
The weapons mainly went to criminal gangs
He then sold most of the finished weapons to criminal networks in Germany and Austria. According to Swedish investigators, they were used for contract killings by a criminal gang, among others.
In subsequent investigations, it was discovered that previously seized weapons in Belgium, Germany, Lithuania and Sweden could also be traced back to the suspect.
