On the front line, the Ukrainian defenders are under heavy pressure and the country's cities are facing heavy attacks from the air. At the same time, Moscow accuses the West of escalation.

In eastern Ukraine, particularly fierce fighting is taking place around the small town of Kurakhove in the Donetsk region, which is located on a reservoir. Russian troops have already succeeded in advancing westwards to the south and north of Kurakhove, threatening to encircle it.

However, according to military observers, the Russian army has also recently launched costly frontal attacks there in order to force the conquest of the city.
