Horrific murder: Pregnant Zara (†30) strangled by mother-in-law in her sleep
Daska (Pakistan) - The heinous murder of a young woman has shaken Pakistan. The heavily pregnant Zara Bibi (†30) was murdered by her own mother-in-law and sister-in-law, her body disposed of like garbage.
It is a crime that outrages people in Pakistan.
Because she is allegedly a "witch" and seduced her son with her "magic power", a woman ordered the murder of her pregnant daughter-in-law.
Four people have been arrested for the murder of Zara Bibni (30), reportsthe newspaper"The Tribune". In addition to Sughran Bibi, the victim's mother-in-law, her daughter Yasmin, two male relatives are also suspected of strangling the young woman in her sleep at the beginning of last week.
They poured petrol over the dead Zara and set her on fire. They then dismembered the body, stuffed it into three sacks and scattered the remains on garbage dumps around the town of Daska (north-east Pakistan).
All four perpetrators confessed. "During police interrogation, Sughran Bibi said that her daughter-in-law had cast a spell," police spokesman Malik Waqas Ahmed told theDawn portal.
But the background suggests a different motive.
Why did Zara have to die?
Four years ago, Zara married into the murderer's clan, had a three-year-old son with her husband Qadeer, and most recently lived with him in Saudi Arabia.
"She returned to Pakistan 15 days ago to have her baby there," Zara's father Shabbir Ahmad told Dawn. His daughter moved in with her husband's family. Then her trail was lost.
Because his daughter's phone was switched off for days, the worried father made inquiries. The mother-in-law tersely informed him that Zara had "run off with her boyfriend". She is said to have left her son, the jewelry and the jewels behind. The man reported his daughter missing. The case got rolling.
Meanwhile, neighbors reported that her mother-in-law and sister-in-law had been jealous of Zara for some time. They begrudged the young woman her life in wealthy Saudi Arabia and could not bear the fact that she, of all people, was the beneficiary of her husband's remittances abroad.
According to all that is known, the dead woman and her husband entered into a marriage out of love - not a matter of course in Pakistan, where most marriages are considered to have been arranged by the parents.
Zara Bibi leaves behind a three-year-old son who now has to grow up without his beloved mother.
