Alarm outside the Supreme Court: Suddenly a car explodes
Brasilia - Two explosions have occurred in front of the Supreme Court in Brazil. The judges and their staff were then taken to safety, the court (STF) announced.

According to a report by the news portal G1, one person was killed in the explosions. The area around the Supreme Court in the government district of the capital Brasilia was cordoned off. Firefighters and explosives experts from the military were on site.
According to the security service of the adjacent Chamber of Deputies, a car had exploded in the parking lot between the parliament and the Supreme Court, as G1 reported.
"I strongly condemn the attacks on the Supreme Court and the Chamber of Deputies," wrote Attorney General Jorge Messias on the X platform.
Body found after the explosion

"The police will investigate quickly and thoroughly. We want to find out the motive for the attacks and restore peace and security as quickly as possible."
One man had tried to break into the Supreme Court, said the acting governor of the federal district, Celina Leão. However, he had not succeeded. His lifeless body was found outside the court after the explosions.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva had already left the nearby seat of government at the time of the explosions.
