The doctors did not have good news for Debby: A malignant brain tumor of the highest severity, stage four, was spreading in her head, as US broadcaster CBS reported on Monday.

What the woman did not know at the time of her life-changing diagnosis was that another stroke of fate was waiting for her in hospital - but this time a positive one.

When she received a visit one day, Debby was not given a bouquet of flowers or a bar of chocolate, but a scratch card for the extra portion of luck that is needed at such moments in life.

When the prize was scratched off, the cancer patient couldn't believe her eyes: she had won a whole 100,000 dollars with this ticket! The mega win not only overwhelmed Debby, but the entire hospital.

One of the doctors told CBS: "There was an incredible outburst of emotion and people were asking: 'What's going on? Normally you only have that when something bad has happened."

In order to be able to spend her newfound wealth, Debby wants to continue fighting cancer - at least until she is 80 years old.
