The scene of the crime, a detached house in the small town of Longview, presented a terrifying picture: the bodies of Cecilia Robles Ochoa (39) and her husband Juan Antonio Alvarado Saenz (38) were covered in stab wounds, reports theNew York Post. The woman had a gunshot wound.

The child could not say who had attacked whom first. When his own parents killed each other, he was happily playing video games in his room, wearing earplugs and was unaware of what was happening in the house. It was only hours later that he found his dead parents.

According to initial findings by the police, the marriage had been in crisis for some time. The divorce was a foregone conclusion.

A knife and a pistol were seized at the scene. According to the police, the firearm was stolen from Juan Antonio's employer, but was only discovered missing after the night of the death.

It is still unclear who the main perpetrator was. The police have ruled out the involvement of third parties.

Meanwhile, Cecilia and Juan Antonio's surviving relatives are asking for donations on the GoFundMe platform so that the deceased can be given a dignified burial and so that the little boy, who is now an orphan, can make ends meet.
