Death on a mother-daughter trip: 18-year-old dies after chicken and chips

Rabat (Morocco) - The vacation was supposed to be a reward for her good performance, but it ended in a tragic catastrophe. 18-year-old Lily died after eating chicken and chips in a restaurant.

Together with her mother Aicha, Lily celebrated the successful completion of her first year of study in Morocco in June, the Daily Mail reported.

On the last day of her stay, the two went out to eat in a restaurant - an outing that had fatal consequences for the 18-year-old.

Despite Aicha's detailed explanation of her daughter's allergies to the restaurant staff, the student developed allergic reactions just minutes after eating.

The girl threw up, ran outside and fought desperately for breath.

The restaurant held the mother back because the bill still had to be paid

Lily's mother accompanied her daughter outside and inserted an EpiPen to treat the severe allergic reactions.

When she went back to get her bag of passports and other essentials, she was stopped by a staff member who insisted she pay the bill first.

In the vital minutes she spent paying, she was unable to call the emergency services and eventually decided to drive her daughter to hospital herself to avoid waiting any longer.

During the drive, Lily suffered a heart attack and a catatonic seizure that left her with severe brain damage.

The doctors kept Lily alive artificially for three days, but as no more brain activity could be detected, the family was finally forced to end life support and let her die.

During this agonizing time, the medical staff spent very little time with the young woman's family. When asked about the possible causes of Lily's death, her mother explained the situation at the restaurant.

Despite these circumstances, the cause of death was recorded on the death certificate as "heart attack".

Although thepolice in Morocco have launched an investigation into the restaurant, the family has not yet received any information about the progress of the case.
