Influencer drowned in boat accident: life jackets "would have ruined selfies and tan"
São Vicente (Brazil) - Two influencers died in a tragic accident on a boat off the Brazilian coast almost a month ago ! It has now emerged that their boat was mercilessly overcrowded with seven people instead of the permitted five. Passengers apparently spared themselves safety measures in favor of their appearance.
Some people on board did not wear life jackets as they would "ruin their tan and their selfies", the Brazilian internet newspaper"G1" quoted the statement by the boat driver, which was passed on by police chief Marcos Alexandre Alfino.
The case took place on the night of September 29 (local time) in the São Vicente region on the coast of São Paulo. Guests were celebrating a party on a yacht.
A second boat was later supposed to bring some visitors back to land, but was caught by a wave. All seven occupants, including the captain, then fell into the water. Two women died. Their bodies were discovered days later.
As reported by "O Globo", they were Beatriz Tavares da Silva Faria (†27) and Aline Tamara Moreira de Amorim (†37) - two influencers.

"There was a moment in the water when no one could see anyone. I was fighting for my life," said one of the survivors of the boat accident, Vanessa Audrey da Silva (35). A man on the tip of the island saw her and called the rescue services.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing. According to reports, the owner of the boat has been questioned and released. According to police chief Alfino, it is now being investigated whether his behavior was "reckless or negligent".
