Joy and Fred from the USA have been married for almost eleven years. Nothing should really surprise them after so many years, but Joy's husband had come up with a very special message for a very special evening.

"I woke up to this nonsense after almost 11 years of marriage," Joy wrote on Platform X, where she posted a photo of the letter.

Before she opened the letter, she was still happy, Joy explains to Newsweek. "At first I thought he had left me a spa voucher or something sweet", says the US-American. But the first lines took her breath away:

"You mean the world to me," Fred began the letter. "But I owe it to myself and to you to be completely honest with you. I have to tell you the truth ..."

Joy had to read this strange message in the morning.

Twitter post with letter to wife goes viral

Of course, it was no problem for the American to treat her husband to a quiet evening in front of the television.

"I immediately wondered if I had done something wrong," says Joy. However, as she read on, she could only laugh:

"From 7pm (that's when the audition prep starts) until the time the game ends, I will not be a husband or a father. You're all on your own for a few hours," Fred writes, referring to the opening night of the New York Knicks' 2024-2025 basketball season.

The game seems to be of great importance to the American and he apparently wanted to make sure that he was not disturbed under any circumstances.

For Joy, of course, this was no problem at all: "I know that my husband is a simple man who enjoys peace and quiet and loves his family." In the end, Fred was of course "allowed" to spend the evening in front of the TV - but he was joined by his wife and child.

The curious letter went viral on X (formerly Twitter). Many celebrate Fred's amusing way of communicating his needs. "We laugh and joke a lot in our marriage and we often tease each other," explains Joy.
