Tourist wants to go into the water despite warnings and pays for it with his life
Karon Beach (Thailand) - A 43-year-old businessman from Great Britain died in Thailand recently because he went into the sea despite warnings.
The accident occurred on Karon Beach in Phuket, as reported by theMirror. This region is known for its dangerous currents, especially during the monsoon season.
Red flags, which can be found everywhere, warn of the life-threatening conditions. It is not yet clear whether the Briton carelessly ignored them or simply overlooked them. One thing is certain: he went into the water with a friend.
Shortly afterwards, he was swept away by the current, which is said to have been so strong that whirlpools could be seen on the surface of the water. Fortunately, nothing happened to his companion.
Another friend, who had stayed on the beach, immediately alerted the lifeguards. Although they managed to bring the 43-year-old back to shore, they were unable to save him.
Despite all attempts at resuscitation, he died a short time later in hospital.
The monsoon season brings with it many dangers
Following this terrible incident, the local authorities are once again warning of the dangers during the monsoon season from September to December.
"The coast of Phuket is very dangerous, especially at this time of year. There are hidden currents that can disorient people. It is important that everyone heeds the warnings, even if they are experienced swimmers," explains Lt Col Eakkasak Fanwhan.
A spokesperson for the British Foreign Office has since assured that they are in contact with the local authorities and want to support the family of the deceased.
