This was reported by Actu Toulouse and Libération, citing the "No SUV Tolosa" group.

On Sunday night, SUVs in the upmarket Côte Pavée district were particularly affected, wrote Libération.

In a statement, the collective gave its reasons for the action: "SUVs are the enemies of pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists: they are much wider and heavier than a small car, and accidents involving SUVs are much more deadly," it said. "Our European cities are not designed for such large vehicles."

The French Cyclists' Federation , among others, called for protests across the country in the run-up to the event to commemorate the 27-year-old who was killed and at the same time demand greater road safety, especially for cyclists.

An SUV driver and his offended ego

The collective denounced the behavior of the driver, who has now been charged with murder: "It was this masculine attitude that cost Paul Varry his life. An ego-hit SUV driver, unable to control his emotions, who would rather run over a cyclist and traumatize his own daughter in the vehicle than listen to the cyclist's criticism and question himself," said "No SUV Tolosa".

On October 15, cyclist Paul Varry died after an SUV driver (52) with his daughter on board allegedly intentionally rammed him after an argument.
