Dog is so hungry that he eats stones: the next trauma follows at the shelter
Brighton (United Kingdom) - Four-legged friend Casper has anything but an easy life. After a terrible start in life, which he had to spend as a stray on the street, he spent some time in an animal shelter. But even there he was to find little happiness.
The white dog was found on a beach in the south of the UK where the stray was eating rocks out of utter desperation, according to RSPCA Brighton.
Casper was starving and "eating anything he could find", a spokesperson for the animal rescue told Newsweek. After his discovery, the greyhound was immediately rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery. The stones had to be removed from his stomach as quickly as possible before they could cause any damage to the animal's body.
Fortunately, Casper survived the lengthy operation and from then on waited for a suitable family to adopt him from the shelter.
In fact, he soon attracted the interest of a visitor who wanted to take him in. Unfortunately, Casper's lucky streak did not last long.

"His first placement failed because the female dog who lived there didn't like him and made her very unhappy," said the RSPCA spokesperson. Casper was therefore returned to the shelter, which was anything but easy for the dog, who had such a bad past.
The white dog has now been living at the Brighton shelter for 170 days. Although the carers are trying hard, they have the feeling that Casper is slowly but surely losing hope of a good life. "He has really struggled in kennels and can be quite depressed and lonely."
He would often go on day trips with volunteers and is often out and about with his dog friends, but this is no substitute for a new home.
That's why the animal rescuers have now taken a different approach and made Casper's fate public on the internet. A video on TikTok showing the depressed dog has already been viewed over 1800 times.
We can only hope that a suitable family can be found to turn Casper back into a happy four-legged friend.
