London - The truth about why a former employee didn't receive a farewell card from her employer is really bitter.

Karen Conaghan had been working for the International Airlines Group (IAG), which also owns the airline British Airways, since 2019.

When she had to leave the company due to "restructuring" and did not receive a farewell card, the woman became angry and took her ex-employer to court, as theTimes magazine reported.

Not only was her claim dismissed, but Conaghan also found out the real reason why she had not received any kind words about leaving the company: simply too few of her colleagues had signed the card.

Only three people in total had wished her all the best for her future career, so her superiors decided to spare her the misery and did not give her the card.

The judge in charge explained that her boss believed that it would have been more offensive to give her the card than not to give it to her.
