Only the two Bayern stars Manuel Neuer (38) and Thomas Müller (35) and former captain Ilkay Gündogan (33) will be present at the Allianz Arena on Monday (8.45pm).

They will be honored before the national anthems for their successes, achievements and many years of service to the national team. This was announced by the German Football Association.

"Kroos would also like to be there in person in Munich, but will be on the pitch with children himself on Monday as part of training in his youth academy," the association said in a statement.

The 34-year-old Kroos will continue to live with his family in Madrid after the end of his career as a footballer.

Nagelsmann expects an "emotional" evening

The three 2014 world champions Neuer, Müller and Kroos, as well as Gündogan, retired as international players after the home European Championship in the summer. Together, the quartet have 451 caps for Germany. Several long-serving members of the team behind the national team will also be bid farewell in Munich on Monday.

"The whole package will certainly be very exciting and emotional," said national team coach Julian Nagelsmann. After the match, there will be an internal team celebration in the stadium.
