This unusual marathon runner is causing a stir

Conception Bay South - The "T'Railway Trek" half marathon took place in the Canadian city of Conception Bay South. This year's medal winners included a very special runner.

As the runners passed the Taylor's Pumpkin Patch store, a new competitor wanted to join them, as reported byCBC. Goat Joshua, who was standing in a pumpkin patch, decided without further ado to become a marathon runner too.

He followed the participants for four kilometers until his owners managed to catch up with him. However, as the marathon was not over yet, the owners decided to accompany the animal for the last half kilometer.

"We very quickly hung a medal around his neck and he became a star. Most of the people who ran the half marathon wanted a photo with Joshua at the finish line," says Mayor Darrin Bent.

He hopes that Joshua will take part in the next marathon again, but not as a runner, but waiting at the finish line.

A few days after the race, Joshua and his owners were even invited to the town hall where they received medals of honor for their unexpected but successful participation.
