Post-divorce: Sophie Turner talks openly about the "shame" of being a mother!

USA - Sophie Turner, 28, has spoken openly about the challenges of being a single mother after Joe Jonas, 35, and she divorced.

While promoting her new series "Joan", which tells the story of a single mother and jewel thief in the 1980s, Turner explains in an interview that the main character has "deeply changed" her.

It was a time when the protagonist had to be ambitious and muster the strong will to stand up to adversity.

As she told The Times , filming began at the same time as Joe Jonas filed for divorce.

"It's so hard to be a single mother," said the 28-year-old.

The "Dark Phoenix" actress compared her role to her current life situation and emphasized that there is a great deal of "shame" that is often associated with being a mother.

"There is so much shame that comes with motherhood. If you go to work, you're judged. If you stay at home, you're judged," explained the mother of two.

Shortly after the split, headlines made the rounds that the "Game of Thrones" star had left her ex-husband and their daughters to go partying.

The exes got into a tumultuous custody battle when Turner sued Jonas, accusing him of refusing to return their daughters' passports and interfering with their joint plans to move to England - a plan they had agreed to before their split.

Turner and Jonas were eventually able to resolve their differences and the actress later withdrew the lawsuit.
