Shock for Harry Potter fans: Professor McGonagall is dead!
London (United Kingdom) - Fans of the Harry Potter series must be very strong now! Actress Maggie Smith has died at the age of 89.

This was reported by the British news agency PA, citing her family.
Smith played the popular Professor McGonagall in the novel adaptations, who also acted as Harry's tutor.
She also appeared in the series "Downton Abbey" and the comedy "Sister Act - A Heavenly Career".
Smith has won several awards over the course of her career. These included two Oscars from the US Film Academy - for her acting performance in the films "The Best Years of Miss Jean Brodie" and "The Crazy California Hotel".
Maggie Smith was born in Ilford near London in 1934 and appeared on the theater stage at an early age. She was also given the title "Dame" after being honored by the British royal family.
The 89-year-old died in hospitalon Friday morning - exactly a year after the death of Michael Gambon (†82), aka Dumbledore - PA reported. She had been with friends and family at the end, according to a statement from her sons quoted by the news agency.
