Man finds two huge boxes on his lawn - When he looks inside, his heart breaks

St. Louis (Missouri/USA) - What had happened here? When a man from the US state of Missouri recently wanted to leave his house to run errands, he caught a woman putting two huge boxes on his lawn.

Before he could speak to her about it, the stranger got back into her car and sped off.

The resident was left baffled. Without further ado, he approached the boxes and quickly discovered that there were small holes in them.

With a bad premonition, he finally opened the lids and sadly found his assumption confirmed: Suddenly, countless pairs of eyes were staring back at him - the woman had left him a total of 20 kittens.

The man immediately packed the boxes into his car and took them to a nearby animal rescue center. The staff there were amazed and have since shared the story on Facebook.

The cats were all different ages and therefore had completely different needs - some of them were still so small that they drank from their mother's breast.

As the shelter was already overcrowded, there was no way the cats could be housed here. The caretakers therefore had to do everything they could to find transitional families for the velvet paws as quickly as possible.

And indeed, as if by a miracle, their prayers seemed to have been answered. The very next day, every kitty had found a new roof over their heads.

"They are all doing well and adapting well to their temporary home," one employee told the animal portal The Dodo enthusiastically.

Now the animal rescuers have set themselves the task of finding families for the little fur noses who can look after them for the rest of their lives.

"I'm so looking forward to their next steps in life!"

The woman who had simply dumped the boxes randomly on the property has not yet been traced.
