Armenia reports dead and injured after shelling from Azerbaijan
Yerevan/Baku - Amid great tensions with Azerbaijan, Armenia has accused the hostile neighboring country of attacks on the border region in the South Caucasus.

The Azerbaijani army fired on the Armenian region of Gegarkunik, killing one Armenian soldier and injuring two others in the village of Kut, the Ministry of Defense in Yerevan announced on Monday. The men had been transporting rations for Armenian border soldiers in a vehicle.
Relations between the two ex-Soviet republics, which have long been strained, have reached a low point since the authoritarian-led Azerbaijan attacked and conquered the Nagorno-Karabakh region two weeks ago.
AlthoughNagorno-Karabakh is located on Azerbaijani territory, it was mainly inhabited by ethnic Armenians. Most of the approximately 120,000 inhabitants have since fled to Armenia.
According to Armenian reports, around 200 people died and 400 others were injured in Nagorno-Karabakh during the brief but fierce Azerbaijani attacks.
It is feared that the mass exodus will draw a line under many centuries of Armenian life in the region.
