A 14-year-old boy threatened two of his classmates (14, 15) with a loaded gun on the street in Spittal an der Drau at around 11.40 a.m., according to the police.

According to the alert, the 14-year-old held the pistol to the 15-year-old's temple and "threatened to kill him". However, both victims were then able to flee on a bus that left from the opposite side of the road.

The suspected teenager also fled at first. However, thanks to a witness description, he was quickly apprehended by officers near the scene of the crime.

The police officers immediately seized the weapon from the boy, which turned out to be a blank-firing pistol. During the search of the child, the uniformed officers found six more cartridges.

When questioned, the 14-year-old said that he wanted to "be cool". That's why he pocketed the pistol, which he had "found in a forest around two weeks ago". He probably also had it with him at school.

The boy was reported to the public prosecutor's office in Klagenfurt. He was also given a temporary weapons ban.
