Ten-year-old shoots his mother for not shopping for him on Amazon
Milwaukee - A boy (10) from Milwaukee in the US state of Wisconsin shot his mother (†44) in the face because she didn't want to buy him a virtual reality headset. The next day, he logged into her Amazon account and ordered the VR glasses himself.
The fatal shooting occurred at 6:50 a.m. on Nov. 21 on a city block. The victim, identified as Quiana Mann, was shot at close range, NBC News reports. According to the criminal complaint, the bullet entered her right eye and then exited her skull through the back of her head.
Investigators were initially told by the 10-year-old that his mother had woken him up at 6am. He then went into her bedroom and got the gun, which he took to the basement where the woman was doing laundry. When he twisted the gun around his finger, it "accidentally went off", the boy claimed.
After shooting his mother, he put the gun in the living room cupboard and went into the room of his sister (26) to wake her up. The young woman finally discovered her mother's body and alerted the emergency services.
However, the police did not believe the minor's version of events. In a later interrogation, he admitted that he had not been twirling the gun when he shot his mother and finally made a confession.
The boy was angry with his mother
He said that "his mother would not allow him to buy anything he wanted from Amazon". She had also woken him up at 6 a.m. on the day of the crime, although he normally sleeps until 6.30 a.m., which is why he would have been angry with her.
He had already taken the keys to the gun locker the night before. When she went into the cellar in front of him, he allegedly only wanted to shoot at the wall to "scare" her. But when the 44-year-old was only about one meter away, he shot her in the face.
The boy also admitted to "knowing that guns are dangerous and can kill people".
The child was charged with first-degree reckless homicide.
