Man chokes 12-year-old in McDonald's because he made a mess
Liverpool (United Kingdom) - A 67-year-old man choked a 12-year-old in a McDonald's after his partner complained about the mess the child was making.
Robert Wynne was in the McDonald's in Rice Lane, Liverpool, with his partner when a group of teenagers entered the fast food restaurant, Liverpool Echo reported.
Wynne's partner reportedly became increasingly annoyed as the teenagers fooled around with their food at the next table.
His partner then loudly admonished the children. Some of the group left the restaurant, but the offended boy defended himself against the warning and told her that he didn't want to be shouted at.
The British man then took a bizarre initiative, grabbed the boy by the neck and choked him.
Photos presented to the court at his trial showed the resulting blue and black bruises on the child's neck.
The 12-year-old spoke in his victim statement about how the incident now makes him nervous when he leaves his house and how much his injuries hurt.
Payment of damages and curfew for offenders
In his interrogation, Wynne lost his nerve several times because of his terrible feelings of shame, his lawyer David Kilty told the court.
He immediately admitted his guilt and made no further excuses, but immediately pleaded guilty to his crime, Kilty continued.
In addition, the defendant suffered from several health problems and his lawyer asked the judge to take this into account in her decision.
Judge Wendy Lloyd did so, but reminded Wynne that he had done absolutely the wrong thing despite his health problems. "You should have known better - much better," she admonished him.
"Yes, I should have," he replied. However, Lloyd also emphasized his quick acceptance of his guilt and his behavior during the interrogation as a sign that he regretted his actions.
In the end, the judge ordered him to pay damages to the boy. She also imposed a curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. for the next four months.
