Five simple tips: What you can do against respiratory mask acne
Network - The following now applies throughout Germany when shopping or using public transport: put on your mask. Perhaps some of you have already noticed this: Not only is it annoying, it also causes spots.
However, not using a face mask is not an option. After all, you want to protect yourself and others from infection with the rampant coronavirus.
So what can you do to avoid a pimple outbreak by wearing a protective mask, or "Makne" (mask+acne) for short?
American dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe knows how to easily prevent exactly that.
A video with practical tips from the doctor on proper skin care has now been published on "Good Morning America".
She has the following skin care tips for you:
1. wash your face properly
It is best to cleanse your face carefully with a gentle cleanser (moisturizing, pH-balanced and sulfate-free) and your fingertips. Then gently pat your face dry with a clean towel.
2. apply face cream or sunscreen
Make sure that the product is well absorbed and does not clog your pores. It is better to avoid oil-based foundations at the moment. Instead of applying make-up, Dr. Whitney Bowe recommends a lighter tinted day cream.
3. mask on
Before you put on your protective mask, you should wait 15 minutes so that the previously applied product and its ingredients can be fully absorbed.
4. mask off
After wearing, the mask should be cleaned so that bacteria/viruses have no chance to spread on your mask and later on your face again
5. anti-acne agent
Aggressive anti-acne products should never be used daily, even if they can have a high benefit, so that the skin has a chance to regenerate in the meantime.
In general, the skin is a sensitive organ and should therefore be treated with care and caution. If you suffer from severe acne, it is best to ask a dermatologist you trust for advice.
